In the captivating trailer for The Idea of You, Anne Hathaway takes on the role of a 40-year-old single mother, Solène, who unexpectedly finds herself entangled in a passionate and R-rated romance with Hayes Campbell, a 24-year-old boy band star portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine. Based on the 2017 novel of the same title, the film draws inspiration from the allure of former boy band royalty Harry Styles.

In the trailer for Prime Video’s “The Idea of You,” Anne Hathaway portrays a 40-year-old single mom who gets to live out a teenage girl’s dream: embarking on a whirlwind romance with the 24-year-old lead singer of the world’s hottest boy band, played by Nicholas Galitzine. The R-rated film will stream globally on Prime Video starting May 2.

After the couple meet backstage at Coachella, they kindle a steamy relationship. As Hayes (Galitzine) plays Solène (Hathaway) a song on the piano, he grips her thigh. “I’m too old for you,” she insists, before he pulls her in for a kiss: “No you’re not.”

The couple is seen navigating paparazzi while embarking on romantic outings, causing Hathaway’s character to ask, “What about what people will say?” – to which Galitzine responds, “I don’t care what they say.” The trailer features the debut single from the film’s soundtrack, “Dance Before We Walk,” which is also out now.

The story unfolds when Solène accompanies her daughter to a music festival and crosses paths with Hayes, the charismatic frontman of the world’s hottest boy band, August Moon. Their connection sparks an undeniable chemistry, but their relationship faces challenges due to life pressures, societal scrutiny, and the weight of stardom.

Based on Robinne Lee’s bestselling novel of the same name, “The Idea of You” is directed by Michael Showalter, known for his work on “The Big Sick” and “Palm Springs.” The film promises a captivating blend of humor, drama, and sensuality, making it a must-watch for fans of forbidden love stories and steamy romances.

Michael Showalter directs the film from a script by Jennifer Westfeldt, who will also executive produce. Producers include Cathy Schulman via her Welle Entertainment label, Gabrielle Union through her I’ll Have Another banner, Hathaway via her Somewhere Pictures label, Lee, Eric Hayes, Showalter and Jordana Mollick. Kian Gass of I’ll Have Another will also executive produce.

Other cast members include Annie Mumolo, Perry Mattfeld, and Jordan Aaron Hall. Hathaway and Galitzine, Jaiden Anthony, Raymond Cham, Vik White, and Dakota Adan portray the remaining August Moon members.

The film is comprised of several Oscar winners, including Hathaway for her role as Fantine in 2013’s “Les Misérables,” Mumolo for co-writing “Bridesmaids,” and Schulman for producing Best Picture winner “Crash.”
