“True Detective” Breakout Kali Reis Role Alongside Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson in “Mercy”
Kali Reis, known for her role in True Detective: Night Country, is set to join the cast of the upcoming sci-fi thriller Mercy. The film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, features an impressive ensemble including Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson, and Annabelle Wallis.

Reis joins previously announced stars Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson, and Annabelle Wallis and, according to Deadline, production on the film is set to start sometime this spring. Mercy is set for an August 15, 2025, theatrical release. Reis’ specific role in the film has not been revealed.
Mercy is to be directed by Timur Bekmambetov on a script from Marco van Belle. Charles Roven produces the film Roven with Atlas Entertainment SVP Robert Amidon, Bekmambetov’s BEL banner, and Majd Nassif. The film is described as “set in the near future when capital crime has increased. Mercy follows a detective (Pratt) accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence.”

We could not imagine a better star and filmmaking team to execute on and deliver what is sure to be a gripping thrill ride and look forward to audiences being able to experience it in theaters.”

Reis, a professional boxer turned actress, has been making waves in both the ring and Hollywood. Her breakout performance came in the 2021 thriller Catch the Fair One, where she played a young boxer. In True Detective: Night Country, she portrayed a character in an Indigenous community dealing with an unsolved murder. Reis uses her platform to raise awareness about Indigenous issues and amplify unheard voices.
Soon after airing the Night Country finale, HBO renewed True Detective for a fifth season, with Night Country showrunner Issa López signing a new multiyear overall deal with HBO.

Mercy promises action and intrigue. The plot revolves around a detective (played by Pratt) accused of a heinous crime who fights to prove his innocence. Helmed by director Timur Bekmambetov, the film is scheduled to begin filming this spring.
