In an unexpected turn of events, Oscar-winning actor Natalie Portman and French dancer/choreographer Benjamin Millepied have officially parted ways after 11 years of marriage.

According to People, a rep for Portman confirmed that the Oscar-winning actor quietly filed for divorce from the French choreographer in July in France, where the couple resided with their two children. The divorce was finalized last month.

Portman and Millepied first met on the set of “Black Swan,” for which Portman won the best actress Oscar in 2010.

Portman most recently starred in Todd Haynes’ “May December” alongside Julianne Moore and Charles Melton, which is up for a Best Original Screenplay Oscar on Sunday. For her performance as Elizabeth Berry, an actress who studies the life of a controversial woman (Moore) she is set to portray in a film, Portman received a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a Motion Picture, comedy or Musical. She will next star in Guy Ritchie’s heist film “Fountain of Youth” opposite John Krasinski and Apple TV+ series “Lady in the Lake,” which she is also producing.

He made his feature-length directorial debut in 2022 with “Carmen,” a musical drama starring Melissa Barrera and Paul Mescal.

The pair married in August 2012 after meeting on the set of 2010’s “Black Swan,” with Portman in the lead role while Millepied served as choreographer for the psychological horror film. They share two kids, Aleph, 12, and Amalia, 7.

Portman told Hoda Kotb in an interview on SiriusXM in 2018 that working with Millepied on set of the film was “beautiful.”

Speculation about the couple’s marriage and rumours about Millepied’s infidelity surfaced in the lead-up to Portman’s film “May December,” which the actress briefly addressed in an interview with Vanity Fair last month.
