Once the Oscars end, it’s always time to celebrate in true Hollywood fashion: the star-studded after-parties.

Dozens of celebrities made their way out to the various celebrations all over Los Angeles to celebrate another successful show, ditching their red-carpet attire for new party-ready looks.

Let’s dive into the show’s details, the Governors Ball, and Universal’s winner’s party.

The Oscars show itself was a rollercoaster of emotions. From tearful acceptance speeches to surprise wins, the audience was on the edge of their seats. Christopher Nolan, the acclaimed director of “Oppenheimer,” admitted to feeling nervous despite attending numerous awards shows throughout the year. His relief was evident when “Oppenheimer” secured seven Oscars, including Best Picture.

So where did they go? What were some of the looks? We take you inside the 2024 Oscars after-parties.

“So, do you get to have some rest now?” Nolan asked me. Unfortunately, no. Believe it or not, the Emmys are already in full force with FYC events and Deadline’s Contenders TV happening in the next month. There is no rest for the weary, but maybe tomorrow. Nolan said he is getting some time off now, at least. Awards seasons are fun, but they can be grueling, and this one started for him in April when he opened Universal’s presentation at CinemaCon.

By the way, Nolan, who also told me he was doubly thrilled to receive his directing Oscar from one of his idols, Steven Spielberg, was eager to share a rather amusing anecdote about the outfit his son wore to the Oscars. It was a hand-me-down from Dad, and apparently it hadn’t been worn in 22 years since the inside pocket still held two tickets for the premiere of Nolan’s 2002 film, Insomnia. As I asked them to pose with the tickets while I took a snap, I also pointed out to Thomas that the suit had never been dry-cleaned. Major Oscar winners – they are just like you and me.

Vanity Fair Oscars Party

This year’s Vanity Fair party returned to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.

Stars began arriving even as the awards ceremony continued, including Jennifer Coolidge, Donald Glover, Sofia Vergara, Jon Hamm, parents John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and singer Kylie Minogue.

“I feel like it’s not work for me tonight, it’s fun,” said Minogue. “Like, what do I have to do at the Oscars? Nothing! But I’m looking forward to catching up with some friends and people I know in the business. I’m just feeling the general sparkle.”

“Abbott Elementary’s” Sheryl Lee Ralph attended the Vanity Fair party with her stylist daughter Ivy-Victoria Maurice.

“You can never go wrong with sparkle and shine when it comes down to the original ‘Dreamgirl,'” said Maurice about her mom. “I just knew that silver was really on trend, and it definitely matches her personality.”

The Vanity Fair after-party is known as one of the ultimate Oscars parties, often bringing out plenty of A-listers, like the Kardashian-Jenner family.

The Governors Ball

Just a short escalator ride up from the Dolby Theatre, the Governors Ball awaited the winners. This exclusive event was the first stop for Oscar recipients and other luminaries. The elegant ballroom excitedly buzzed as stars mingled, sipped champagne, and posed for photos. Robert Downey Jr., the Best Supporting Actor winner for “Oppenheimer,” stood in line, still processing his victory.

Universal’s Winners Party

Universal Pictures hosted a lavish party to celebrate its Oscar triumphs. The studio’s films had dominated the night, and the atmosphere was electric. Emma Thomas, producer of “Oppenheimer,” shared a laugh with fellow guests, reveling in the film’s success. The party became a hub of joy, camaraderie, and shared memories as the night unfolded.

What It All Means

The Oscars are more than just awards; they represent the pinnacle of cinematic achievement. Behind the glimmering stage, real people pour their hearts into their work. Whether it’s a nervous director, a surprised actor, or a jubilant producer, the Oscars capture the essence of Hollywood magic.

Al Pacino summed it up best as the night wound down: “Life’s a stage, my friends. Sometimes you read the wrong lines, but you keep going.” And so, the 96th Academy Awards etched its place in history, reminding us that even amidst the glamour, there’s room for spaghetti-stained cue cards and genuine human moments.
