The couple play three different pairs of spouses who face marital troubles in the same hotel suite at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

Plaza Suite, which opened at the Savoy Theatre on January 28, 2024, has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised Sarah Jessica Parker’s versatility, charm, and comedic timing. The Guardian called her a “revelation” and said Sarah Jessica Parker “sells Neil Simon’s marriage comedy”.

The Telegraph described her as a “wallet-busting treat” and said she “brings a touch of class to the proceedings”. AOL.com reported that she “struck gold” in a sparkly dress at the afterparty and said she “beamed in the gold-embellished dress”.

Parker and Broderick, who have been married for 25 years, share the stage of London’s Savoy Theatre for the very first time in Plaza Suite, which was a Broadway hit in 1968 and 2019.

They transform into three unique couples, each with their own quirks and conflicts, under the masterful direction of Tony winner John Benjamin Hickey.

The outstanding creative team also includes John Lee Beatty for set design, Jane Greenwood for costume design, Brian MacDevitt for lighting design, Scott Lehrer for sound design, Marc Shaiman for incidental music, and Jim Carnahan as the casting director.

Parker and Broderick display their chemistry and charisma in each scenario, switching from drama to comedy with ease and flair. Sarah Jessica Parker, in particular, showcases her range and talent, playing a ditzy housewife, a naive ex-girlfriend, and a frantic mother with equal conviction and humour.

Broderick, meanwhile, complements her with his deadpan delivery and physical comedy, portraying a pompous businessman, a sleazy producer, and a stressed father with finesse and fun.

Plaza Suite is a delightfully witty and poignant exploration of love and marriage, featuring two world-class performers and Hollywood icons. It is a timeless romantic comedy that will make you laugh, cry, and think. Plaza Suite is playing at the Savoy Theatre until March 31, 2024.
