Marvel fans have much to look forward to in 2024, as the studio has announced several movies and shows that will continue the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) story and introduce new characters and worlds. From the return of Deadpool to the debut of Echo, here are the Marvel projects you don’t want to miss in 2024.

Echo (January 10, 2024)

Echo is a spin-off series from Marvel’s Hawkeye, which premiered on Disney+. The series will focus on Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, a deaf Native American character who can mimic the abilities of others. Echo is played by Alaqua Cox, who made her acting debut in Hawkeye.

Echo is the adopted daughter of Wilson Fisk, the kingpin of crime, played by Vincent D’Onofrio in Marvel’s Daredevil and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Echo has a history with Daredevil, Spider-Man, and the Avengers in the comics, and she also took on the identity of Ronin, a ninja-like vigilante that Hawkeye used in Avengers: Endgame.

The series will explore Echo’s origin and her role in the MCU. The series will also feature Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, Echo’s father, and Fra Fee as Kazi, a mercenary who works for Kingpin and has a romantic interest in Echo.

The series was written by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, and directed by various filmmakers, including Ava DuVernay and Taika Waititi. Echo will be the first Marvel series to be released on Disney+ and Hulu, and it will have all 10 episodes available at once, unlike the previous Marvel shows released weekly.

Deadpool 3 (July 26, 2024)

Deadpool 3 is the third installment in the Deadpool franchise, and the first to be officially part of the MCU. The movie will return Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, the mercenary with a mouth who can heal from any injury and break the fourth wall.

The movie will also feature Zazie Beetz as Domino, a mutant with luck powers, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a mutant with explosive abilities, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, a metal-skinned X-Man, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, Deadpool’s taxi driver and sidekick.

The movie will also introduce new characters, such as Cable, a time-traveling soldier played by Josh Brolin, and Weasel, Deadpool’s best friend and arms dealer played by T.J. Miller. The movie was written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, the sisters behind Bob’s Burgers and The Great North, and directed by David Leitch, who helmed Deadpool 2 and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

The movie will be rated R, like the previous Deadpool movies, and will have a lot of humor, action, and meta-references. The plot of the movie is still unknown, but it is rumored that it will involve Deadpool crossing paths with other MCU characters, such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Avengers, and possibly exploring the multiverse.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (Fall 2024)

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is a spin-off series from Marvel’s WandaVision, aired on Disney+ in 2021. The series will follow Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch who was Wanda Maximoff’s mentor and nemesis in WandaVision.

Agatha is played by Kathryn Hahn, who received an Emmy nomination for her performance in WandaVision. Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will explore Agatha’s past and present, as she deals with the consequences of her actions in WandaVision and the Darkhold, a book of dark magic that she tried to use against Wanda.

The series will also feature other characters from the MCU, such as Monica Rambeau, a former S.W.O.R.D. agent who gained superpowers in WandaVision, played by Teyonah Parris, and Darcy Lewis, a scientist and friend of Wanda, played by Kat Dennings. The series will be written by Jac Schaeffer, the head writer of WandaVision, and directed by Matt Shakman, the director of WandaVision.

The series will have six episodes and be released on Disney+ in the fall of 2024.

X-Men ’97 (2024)

X-Men ’97 is an animated series that will continue the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran from 1992 to 1997. The series will feature the same characters and voice actors from the original series, such as Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Jean Grey, Professor X, Magneto, and more.

The series will also introduce new comic characters and stories, such as the Age of Apocalypse, the Phoenix Saga, and the Onslaught Saga. Marvel Studios and Disney Television Animation will produce the series and it will be written by Beau DeMayo, who worked on Marvel’s The Witcher and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man – Formerly Spider-Man: Freshman Year (2024)

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an animated series that will tell the origin story of Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in the MCU.

The series was originally titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year but was changed to avoid confusion with the live-action Spider-Man movies. The series will feature a young Peter Parker who gets bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes a superhero, while also dealing with high school, family, and friends.

The series will also show how Peter met some of his allies and enemies, such as Nick Fury, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Venom, and the Sinister Six. The series will be produced by Marvel Studios and Marvel Animation and written by Jeff Trammell, who worked on Craig of the Creek and Teen Titans Go!

The series will be released on Disney+ in 2024 with 13 episodes.

Eyes of Wakanda Series (2024)

Eyes of Wakanda Series is a live-action series focusing on the Dora Milaje, the elite female warriors who protect the king and the nation of Wakanda.

The series will feature Danai Gurira as Okoye, the Dora Milaje leader who appeared in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The series will also feature other members of the Dora Milaje, such as Ayo, played by Florence Kasumba, and Nakia, played by Lupita Nyong’o.

The series will explore the history and culture of Wakanda, as well as the challenges and threats that the Dora Milaje face in the aftermath of the death of King T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman. The series will be produced by Marvel Studios and Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media and written by Chinaka Hodge, who worked on Snowpiercer and Amazing Stories.

The series will be released on Disney+ in 2024, with eight episodes.
