Based on Veronica Roth’s book series of the same name, the Divergent film series spawned three installments: Divergent (2014), The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015), and The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016). Like its source material, the film follows Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) after she learns that she’s “divergent” upon entering adulthood and won’t fit into just one of the dystopian society’s five factions. Shailene Woodley (Tris Prior)
The California native continued to star in movies including Adrift, Endings, Beginnings, and The Mauritanian after Divergent wrapped. She notably led the critically acclaimed HBO series Big Little Lies, for which she scored her second Golden Globe nod and first Emmy nomination. In her personal life, she was arrested in 2016 and put on a one-year probation for trespassing while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline.
She dated Australian-Fijian rugby player Ben Volavola from 2018 to 2020 before confirming her engagement to Aaron Rodgers in February 2021. Theo James (Four):
Though the English actor starred on shows such as Castlevania and Sanditon after Divergent, he continued appearing in several movies: Underworld: Blood Wars, How It Ends, and Archive. In 2018, he married Irish actress Ruth Kearney, with whom he welcomed their first child a year later. Zoë Kravitz (Christina):
In addition to starring in High Fidelity — a series in which she executive produced — and Big Little Lies, she continued to appear in prominent films like the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Rough Night, and Gemini. Kravitz starred as Catwoman/Selina Kyle in the Robert Pattinson-led Batman film, which hit theaters in March 2022. She has continued to front the band Lolawolf and they dropped their sophomore album, Tenderness, in July 2020. She was married to actor Karl Glusman from 2019 until she filed for divorce in December 2020. Kravitz has been linked to Channing Tatum since 2021.

Ansel Elgort (Caleb Prior):
Following Divergent, the New York native nabbed starring roles in Baby Driver, Billionaire Boys Club, The Goldfinch, and Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated West Side Story remake. He’s also set to star in and executive produce a series called Tokyo Vice. Outside of acting, he’s continued to release songs including “Thief,” “All I Think About Is You” and “You Can Count on Me.” In June 2020, Elgort was accused of sexually assaulting a young woman in 2014 when she was 17 and he was 20. He denied the allegation.
The actor went on to star as Tony in Steven Spielberg’s critically acclaimed (and Oscar-nominated) West Side Story remake. Elgort dated high school sweetheart Violetta Komyshan on and off from 2012 to 2022. Keiynan Lonsdale (Uriah)

Ashley Judd (Natalie Prior):
Judd’s activism and humanitarian work have been her focus. The Emmy-nominated actress starred on TV shows including Berlin Station and Twin Peaks: The Return. She also landed film roles in A Dog’s Way Home, Good Kids, and Trafficked. In her personal life, she accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct in 2017 and he was later sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020.
