Two-Face rumors for The Batman Part 2 debunked by James Gunn.
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn swiftly debunked a recent casting rumor about “The Batman – Part II”. Recently, a new rumor emerged that The Sandman star Boyd Holbrook had been cast as Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, in the upcoming sequel to The Batman.

The Batman Part 2 debunked by James Gunn
Despite the delay in releasing “The Batman – Part II” until 2026, fans can rest assured that Boyd Holbrook is not set to portray the iconic villain. Gunn expressed skepticism about actors’ involvement in casting rumors and attributing misinformation to websites seeking clicks or honest mistakes by journalists.
The Penguin actor Colin Farrell reveals his favorite cinematic portrayals of iconic DC characters Batman and the Joker.
Gunn also shot this down when asked if the rumor might have been put out there by Holbrook’s team to generate interest in the potential casting. He said, “No I don’t think this has anything to do with Boyd and his people. Sometimes it’s an honest mistake by web sites who’ve gotten false info (although they’re jumping the gun journalistically) & other times it’s just made up for clicks. I don’t know which one this is.”
Along with a main role in Netflix’s The Sandman, Holbrook is known for starring in other shows like Narcos, Hatfields & McCoys, The Fugitive, and Justified: City Primeval. The actor has also appeared in movies like Logan, The Predator, Indiana Jones, and The Dial of Destiny. Next, He will join Tom Hardy and Austin Butler in the upcoming film The Bikeriders and play music legend Johnny Cash in Timothee Chalamet’s Bob Dylan biopic, The Complete Unknown.

What is the Plot of The Batman – Part II?
The future of Gotham in The Batman – Part II is a mystery box waiting to be opened. Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but there are some hints about what might be in store. The film’s development seems to be taking longer than expected, with a recent delay pushing its release from October 2025 to October 2026.
This suggests the creative team is taking extra time to craft the story and ensure it delivers. While rumors have circulated about Harvey Dent’s transformation into the villainous Two-Face, there’s no official confirmation of his appearance in the sequel. However, to help bridge the gap between the first movie and the sequel, a spin-off series titled “The Penguin” starring Colin Farrell is set for release later in 2024 on HBO Max.
This series might explain what’s brewing in Gotham’s underworld and how it might impact Batman’s next big-screen adventure. With the Penguin series and the eventual release of The Batman – Part II, fans will have to wait a bit longer for answers, but the anticipation is certainly building!
The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, marked a new chapter for the iconic superhero. Robert Pattinson took on the mantle of Bruce Wayne/Batman, facing off against a twisted Riddler played by Paul Dano.
Zoë Kravitz brought Catwoman to life, while Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, and Andy Serkis filled out the cast as James Gordon, Carmine Falcone, and Alfred Pennyworth, respectively. Barry Keoghan’s chilling appearance as the Joker at the end has fueled speculation about his return as a major villain in the upcoming sequel. The Batman – Part II is slated for a U.S. release on October 2, 2026.
